Freeschool
A town where nature and culture remain on the Kunisaki Peninsula in Oita Prefecture
We started a free school.
Based on anthroposophy, a philosophy advocated by German philosopher Rudolf Steiner
What is a true human being?
What is true freedom?
With that question,
Seeing children as individuals
We offer a variety of traditional cultural experiences, artistic classes, natural farming, lectures, and activities.
Through inner and social experiences, we foster inner growth and an open trust in the world.

Education for Freedom
Steiner believed that each child is born with a task or mission to fulfill in life, and that in order to fulfill that mission, they need to have a balanced mind, body, and spirit.
The Waldorf education process is called "Education to Freedom".
Steiner education is often perceived as "free education," but "education for freedom" has a completely different meaning.
Through learning, we aim to help children gradually discover and develop the mission and talents that lie dormant within them, so that when they reach adulthood, they will become "truly free people" who are able to think for themselves and take responsibility for what they determine to be right, regardless of the authority or opinion of others, or their own self-interest.
When children connect with wonderful things such as the people around them and nature, and when they feel a passion in their hearts, they feel one with the world and sense a great, invisible power.
Steiner described the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment felt at such times as "freedom."
When people have such experiences, they are able to discover the purpose of their lives.
And when a person has achieved true freedom, he or she is also able to respect the freedom of others.
